Context

The client had multiple strategic initiatives to improve national safety outcomes. I contributed to two key projects, both resulting in visual narratives. The first project illustrated how their operating model addressed emerging issues in the system. The second, which is the focus of this case study, supported the refinement of a strategic partnership model to align efforts to drive systemic safety outcomes.

Opportunity

The core engagement team was asked to facilitate and guide the discussion on the design of the strategic partnership. The objective was to develop a comprehensive blueprint of how the partnership will work, its vision and outcomes, and its ecosystem, as well as provide a clear line of sight from strategic direction to operations for the client.

Outcome

  • Designed and facilitated two co-design workshops with a complex group of stakeholders to build and refine the partnership blueprint, enhancing system-wide collaboration, buy-in and understanding.

  • Created a visual design artefact that serves as a communication tool, visually showcasing the partnership model's key components, structure, and interdependencies in an accessible format for diverse stakeholders.

  • Developed a core narrative that compellingly told the story of the strategic partnership, communicating its purpose, values, and aspirations to engage a broader audience and generate support for the partnership's objectives through various channels.

As the analyst and designer…

  • I worked in a team of five, with another senior analyst, associate director, director and partner, alongside the client’s senior sponsor team.

  • I assisted in the design, preparation and facilitation of the co-design workshops.

  • I analysed and synthesised workshop outputs and information to inform the design and development of the design artefact, narrative and report deliverables.

  • I designed and refined the visual design artefact, collaborating with the senior stakeholders to capture feedback and make iterations.

  • I supported project management, drove the review process with internal stakeholders and handled risk and quality documentation.
